Liverpool return home from their Champions League exploits to face Stoke City in Anfield. The Reds are in the midst of an abysmal run of form losing four of the last five and devoid of ideas, Brendan Rodgers side have been really poor of late. With Mario Balotelli now injured Brendan rodgers has been forced to turn to summer signing Rickie Lambert to play the lead striker role on his own with Raheem Sterling in behind. Liverpool are better than their results indicate but no where near as good as the Liverpool sign that competed for the title last season. The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona and the injury to Daniel Sturridge has robbed Liverpool of their two most potent goalscoring threats and without them this Liverpool side are decidedly average.
While Stoke City are going through a rough patch themselves they have had some incredible results this season winning at Manchester City being one of them. In years gone by Stoke were a team that relied heavily on their home form but have actually got more points from their travels this term and will look to continue that trend when they take on Liverpool in anfield. Ex Liverpool striker Peter Crouch will lead the line for Stoke alongside Irish striker Jonathon Walters. Stoke have a solid defence and strong midfield with ex- Liverpool player Charlie Adam the main inspiration in there. Mark Hughes will ensure his side are tough to beat and given Liverpool's struggles of late it would not be surprising if Hughes and Stoke came away from Anfield with all three points.
At the moment given how much Liverpool have struggled I just cant take them as 7/10 favourites in any game. Even at home,so I am going to take Stoke on the handicap here. I like how Stoke have played away from home this season and I think they can hurt Liverpool on the counter. I also dont trust Liverpool's attack now and think that the Reds will struggle until the return of Sturridge or until they buy some quality in January.
