Bottom the table Borussia Dormtund host Hoffenheim in a must win game on Friday night Bundesliga action. It has been such a terrible season for Borussia Dortmund that it is literally impossible to know how this team is going to play. Missing Marco Reus to an ankle injury and the sale of Robert Lewandowski appears to have completely unbalanced the side although Borussia Dortmund have all but won their Champions League group. Jurgen Klopp as manager surely has to be wondering how his side can be so effective in Europe and so inept domestically. There has been obvious problems a lack of goals being number one Borussia Dormtund have scored the second least amount of goals all season but on top of that that they have eight losses from thirteen games. If this continues there is a real chance that Borussia Dortmund could be relegated.
Tomorrows visitors are Hoffenheim who are having a terrific season themselves sitting in seventh but a win tomorrow can bring them up to joint third and in the Champions league places. Firmino and Schipplock will cause plenty of problems for Dortmund defensively as they have been having a decent season and are forming a good partnership. Hoffenheim have been involved in some high scoring affairs of late with two games finishing 4-3, obviously that is not great defence but they have shown an ability to score goals.
I dont believe that Borussia Dortmund will be relegated but I do think their current struggles are going to continue for a while. Therefore I just dont see how they can be 1/2 against anyone, even at home. I did make a similar call on Dortmunds last home game against Mochengladbach one in which Dortmund won with a fluke own goal. Dortmund are just struggling offensively and although they face a Hoffenheim team that are giving up goals I just dont trust the team without Reus. I am taking Hoffenheim on the handicap +1.
