The Tyne wear derby comes from St James Park where Newcastle play host to their great rivals Sunderland. Newcastle look to bounce back from a big defeat to Tottenham midweek, Alan Pardew will be hoping his side can turn things around after three defeats in their last five which had followed six wins on the trot. Papa Cisse has been finding the net for the Magpies but they need more from Perez, Cissokho and Ameobi. Currently playing with their third string goalkeeper due to injuries Newcastle will be looking to get the derby win that will push them back into the top seven. Newcastle have struggled a little in recent games but they were not as bad as the 4-0 or 4-1 scorelines suggest in their last two losses and prior to that they beat Chelsea at home, the only team to beat Chelsea so far this season. Newcastle have also won four of their last five at home and will look to use the passionate Geordie fans tomorrow.
Sunderland have lost just one of their last five but have also not won in six, five draws and a loss make up the last six for Sunderland and while Gus Poyet will be happy that his team is not losing he knows that they simply must start winning games if they are to avoid the relegation battle. Up front Poyet can turn to Fletcher and Wickham and USA international Josey Altidore who will put in the work but may lack the goalscoring touch. Sunderland have a solid team defensively and only conceded two goals in those five draws.
It has been a funny weekend in the Premier league but I think that mostly the teams that are supposed to win have won. I like Newcastle here, they are at home and just look the better team. Sunderland will be good defensively and because this is a derby game anything could happen but personally I just think Newcastle will get the win here.
