Monday night football comes from the Britannia Stadium where Stoke City will host Chelsea, a point for the visitors will be enough to top the table on Christmas day but after Manchester City levelled things up on Saturday you can be sure Jose Mourhino will want his men to get the win at Stoke. Chelsea's only struggles this season have come on the road where they have drawn three and lost one. Chelsea have actually dropped points in their last two away games a draw at Sunderland and a loss to Newcastle (their only loss of the season thus far) and will look to get the show back on the road against Stoke on Monday night. Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas have been the key players this season for Chelsea and they will look to dominate possession in the middle third against a Stoke side who just recently put Arsenal to the sword at the Britannia. Costa and Fabregas have been tremendous additions for Chelsea this season and Hazard has kicked on again to become one of the best players in the world. Together the trio look almost unstoppable at time.
There is an age old saying in English football when discussing the best players on the planet "would he be able to do it on a cold night in Stoke" well tonight we'll find out if Costa and Fabregas are able to do it on a cold night in stoke. Stoke City look to cause another upset at home where they recently beat Arsenal 3-2 after leading 3-0 at halftime. The potters have actually been poor this season at home though with only three wins two draws and three losses. Through the entire season last year Stoke only had three losses at home so they must go unbeaten(at home) the rest of the season to match that form. With Peter Crouch , Bojan and Jonaton Walters up front Stoke wont be lacking for effort or ability. In partincular Bojan has looked terrific at times this year and can light up any occasion with his skill set. Diouf can give something different from the bench but the winning and losing of this game will be in the midfield where Camerion and Nzonzi must stem the threat of Hazard and Fabregas. If Stoke can put some tackles on those two early without getting a booking then we could be in for an interesting night at the Britannia.
Stoke are a tough team to beat and I think tonight Chelsea are going to struggle against Mark Hughes well organised highly motivated team. Stoke fans are also among the most passionate in the league and the atmosphere tonight for the visiting league leaders should be electric. I'm going to take Stoke on the handicap here. I think they can keep this one really tight and if they could nick an early goal from Bojan or Crouch who knows what might happen at Stoke on Trent tonight.
