The first of the Boxing day/Stephens day games which kicks off at 12.45 from Stamford Bridge with Chelsea playing host to West Ham United in a London Derby between two of the top four. While Chelsea have been top of the table for most of the season West Ham have just recently asserted themselves as the fourth best team in the Premier League. Sam Allardyce's side have won four of their last five and have only lost one of their last five away games. With the return of Andy Carroll to the starting line up WEst Ham now have a duel threat with Sakho and Carroll providing different threats going forward. Alex Song, the on loan Barcelona midfielder has been brilliant in the last few weeks and the return of Carroll has really allowed for the range of Song's passing to be appreciated. West Ham may historically have struggled against Chelsea in Stamford Bridge but they have come away with a point in two of the last five games in Stamford bridge and both of those came when West Ham were struggling. This West ham team are playing with a lot of confidence and will fancy their chances of getting something from this London derby.
With Jose Mourhino's side winning Monday night they were assured of being top at Christmas, it was a clinical display at Stoke where they scored early, limited Stoke to few chances and created enough to win more comfortably than the final 2-0 scoreline. Mourhino has an abundance of talent at his beck and call with Fabregas, Hazard and Costa the key triangle up front and a solid defence which is marshalled by Courtois in goal. The strength in depth with Drogba, Remy and Schurlle all available to come in from the bench it's just a ridiculous strength in depth. Chelsea will hope to get the win here that pushes them six clear of Manchester City before a hectic period in the premier league with three games in seven days.
This one should be a great start to the Premier League boxing day/stephen's day fixture list. Chelsea and West Ham ar two of the most inform teams in the league and West Ham will come to Stamford Bridge looking for a result. Sam Allardyce has a habit of being able to upset London clubs, going back to his days at Bolton. I think West Ham will get a goal here and am taking the both teams to score market. If I was to take a result I think I would side with West Ham on the handicap as it appears to be value but I like the both teams to score market more.
