Southampton travel to Selhurt Park to take on Crystal Palace a week after finally ending their five game losing streak. Ronald Koemans side are still flying high in the league although last weekend's win was much needed especially with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool dropping points. Pelle is back scoring and on a whole Southampton looked very cohesive against Everton totally deserving the victory in a game that should be a reminder to the rest of the league that this is a quality side with talent on both sides of the ball. Long and Pelle are working on a partnership, Tadic has been brilliant this season and at the back Clyne and Bertrand have been excellent. Koeman will be looking for his side to come out fast here on the road , get a lead and come away from Selhurst park with another win that will leave the Saints in a strong position for Champions League football.
CrystalPalace were excellent in the first half at Manchester CIty and probably didnt deserve to lose the game three nil but their lack of options up front are starting to hurt the Eagles. With only six goals between the Zaha, Campbell and Gayle just need to start delivering more goals. Jedinak has been chipping in with goals from midfield but Neil Warnock has been in many relegation dog fights and knows that he needs more goals. He also knows that to survive Palace are going to have to win their home games, this is an opportunity for Crystal Palace to start the busy festive period with a good result but its a tough ask against one of the best teams in the league.
I fancy Southampton here, I took them last weekend to beat Everton when the formbook and every other pundit were betting against the Saints and I am going to continue my confidence in them on Friday. Koeman has put together a solid team with a very good striker up front. I think that Southampton get the win here that will push them close to if not into the champions league places.
