The Championship is starting to heat up coming towards the business end of the season and fifth place Derby will look to consolidate their promotion chances when they take on Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night. Derby have hit form at the right time and a win here will take them level on points with Bournemouth at the top of the table. Steve McLaren's side have won five of their last six and look to be on the right track for promotion. With the aquisition of Darren Bent and Stephen Warnock the Rams have strengthened their squad and look likely to push on from here. Still heavily reliant on top scorer Chris Martin, Derby needed to add some depth up front and Darren Bent seems like a good fit. Bent scored in his second game for the club at the weekend in the FA Cup. But McLaren will be focussed on picking up the win tonight as promotion is the number 1 priority.
Blackburn have fallen away recently losing four of their last nine which has left them mid table in the league and eleven points from the promotion places. In the Championship though that is not much as this league see saws so much. Blackburn are also heavily reliant on their main strikers Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede. Who have scored 75% of the teams goals this season. Blackburn always up their games against the big teams or at least they seem to this year with two draws against Boro and Ipswich and a win over Bournemouth.
Big game here for Derby a chance to go joint top and Steve McLaren will be looking to take it. Blackburn have definitely upped their game though against the better sides and this one isnt going to be easy for Derby. Add in that it's a Tuesday night and I think anything could happen. What I am sure of is that both teams look likely to find that net. Going to take both teams to score here as I think both offences look to have a slight advantage over the defensive counterparts.
