Chelsea travel north to take on an Aston Villa team that will be trying to recover from their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Arsenal last weekend. Chelsea put in a somewhat lacklustre performance last week at home against Manchester City but came away from the game with a draw. That game was a major disappointment as a spectacle and as a result. Jose Mourhino is sometimes guilty of a hold what you have mentality and that was never more evident than last week when the Portugese manager was just happy not to lose the game. With Diego Costa still out through suspension Loic Remy will get another chance to lead the line for the blues and I think the Frenchman will excel in the role and give Mourhino a nice headache to have. Quadrado may get his debut as the former Fiorentina winger looks set to be named to the Chelsea bench for the game tomorrow.
Aston Villa have had a decent run of form at home of late losing only one of their last six games at home. Paul Lambert's side look defensively sound at home but last week they got torn apart at Arsenal and one would worry about their mentality coming into this game.Villa are only three points above the relegation zone and look destined to be fighting for their lives come May if they dont improve. Christan Benteke and Andrea Wiemann need to start firing in goals up front as Villa have been completely impotent of late, in fact it is over 540 minutes since Aston Villa scored a goal in the Premier League. This is not going to be an wasy task for Villa but they do play in front of a passionate home crowd and if they can hold Chelsea for an hour then maybe they can garner some self belief back.
Really tough game to call here. I dont like anything across the markets so I am going to go for Chelsea to win 2-0. It's Mourhino's favourite scoreline as far as I can see and I think that this may be a game that Villa defend heroically but have their hearts broken late in the game and then get caught on the counter attack when pushing for an equaliser.
