One of the games of the week in the Premier League will see Tottenham travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Tuesday night. Both teams played in big derby games last weekend but with very differing results. Liverpool put in an abject performance when drawing at Everton in a game they really should have lost. Brendan Rodgers team looked toothless up front despite the return of Daniel Sturridge and the hard work of Raheem Sterling. The reds have struggled a little bit at home of late winning only three of their last nine in all competitions at home. With Stephen Gerrard moving to pastures new at the end of the season the search is on for his replacement with Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and Philip Couthino the main applicants. Couthino looks a real talent but whether he can fill Gerrards boots or not is debatable. The main problem for Liverpool is putting the ball in the net and on Tuesday, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem sterling will probably get their first start together. It is a risk to start Sturridge given the length of time he was out injured and the fact that this will be his third appearance in ten days.
From a Tottenham perspective this is a game they can not afford to lose. Manuel Pochettino's side have the momentum coming into this game after coming from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the weekend in a cracking North London Derby. Tottenham were excellent from start to finish with Erickson, Dembele, Kane and Bentalab brilliant. Spurs are now in a reall battle for the top four but with Arsenal taking on Leicester on Tuesday and Manchester United facing Burnley one would think that any dropped points for Spurs here will be exploted by the other two.
This is going to be a cracking encounter, both teams play excellent football in general and while Liverpool are really only finding their feet right now with the return of Sturridge Tottenham are a team with real Momentum. I like Tottenham here just like I liked them at the weekend and mainly it has to do with the pricing. Given the two teams form this should be a coinflip so Tottenham at 10/3 looks like a crazy price to me! I am taking Tottenham on the handicap and will be spreading a little on the money line.
