One of the more intriguing games in the last sixteen will see French Champions PSG host English leaders Chelsea. PSG are going through what can only be described as a rough patch after coughing up a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at the weekend with Caen. There appears to be some infighting within the team as well as rumours that Cavani and Ibrahimovich refuse to pass to each other re emerge. Personally I think it's nonsense to distract from how poorly both are playing in a very average league. Lavezzi, Cavani and Ibrahimovich are going to have a tough enough time dealing with a Chelsea defence that do not concede all that much and have only conceded one goal away from home in Europe this year. Laurent Blanc must get the balance right and it will be interesting to see how David Luiz plays against the team that sold him to PSG in the summer. Luiz and Silva have struggled to play together this season and PSG dont look comfortable at all right now. They do possess a good home record in Europe though and did beat Barcelona here back in September.
Chelsea will welcome back Diego Costa to their starting line up after the Spanish striker was suspended for the last three Premier League games. The return of a fresh and fit Costa can only be bad for PSG and depending on Mourhino's tactics this game is almost set up perfectly for Chelsea. Chelsea had a weekend off as they were out of the FA Cup so had time to prepare for this game. Hazard and Costa will be the key man for Chelsea who may also welcome back Cesc Fabregas from injury. Mourhino though is notorious for his negative tactics in away European games and this cannot be discounted in making a pick here. Mourhino is quite happy to come away from away games with a 0-0 or even a 1-1 and therefore may set up as a 4-5-1 to stifle PSG's front three.
I want to take Chelsea to win straight up here such has been the struggles of PSG of late. But given Mourhino's tactics I am going to take the draw. I cant see Chelsea losing this one but I am not banking on Mourhino to go out and try to win in Parc Des Princes either so a draw is the value play here for me.
