Southampton have fallen from third to sixth in the league table and are looking to bounce back when they face Burnley on Saturday. Burnley come into this game off one of the biggest wins of the season when they defeated the Champions Manchester City at turfmoor. George Boyd was the hero scoring the only goal of the game with a terrific half volley from the edge of the box. Burnley have fought hard all season and continue to do so every week. I have to admit I had given up on them staying up after a run of negative results but last weeks performance epitomised the team and I am desperately hoping that they can be inspired by the result and stay up as the league is the better for having them. Simon Dyche will be looking to Danny Ings and Sam Vokes up front to lead Burnley out of the relegation place although this game against Southampton is going to be a really tough task as Southampton have the best defence in the league.
Southampton are a tough defence and Ronaldo Koeman has done a terrific job since taking over the Saints. Southampton have the best defence in the league as previously mentioned but have struggled a little upfront. Pelle , Tadic and Mane have been the key protagonists this season but Southampton have only scored three goals in their last seven games. Those struggles are what has cost Southampton a place in the top four and they will be looking to right that when they face the second worst defence in the league.
This is an interesting game, I am tempted by the price on Burnley. I do think Southampton are deserved favourites being at home but 1/2 is just not value for me especially with a team struggling to score goals. Instead I am going to take Burnley +1 on the handicap as I think the relegation strugglers may pull off another shock here.
