A home nations friendly on Wednesday will see Northern Ireland travel to take on Scotland in Hampden Park, Glasgow. Both teams have had good starts to their respective European Qualification campaigns and both sit in second in their groups although Scotland are tied with the Republic of Ireland and Germany on seven points. Scotland had an important win over the Republic of Ireland in their last competitive game but did suffer a 3-1 loss to England in their last game. Scotland manager Gordon Strachan will be looking for another solid performance before Sunday's qualifier with Gibraltar. The two Fletcher's, Scott Brown and Steven Naismith will form the spine of this side and will look to new man Anya on the wing to provide the width and pace. Anya has been a sensation since coming into the Scottish set up and will be an important cog in the wheel if Scotland are to qualify for the Euros.
Under Michael O'Neill Northern Ireland have been excellent and qualification for the Euro's is a distinct possibility right now after an amazing start to the campaign with wins away to Hungary and Greece, they couldnt make it three from three against Romania but with nine points from four games Northern Ireland are in pole position to qualify for their first International Competition since the World Cup in 1986. With the Evans brothers, Kyle Lafferty, Chris Brunt and Mcnair there is talent, youth and experience in this squad a good mix and they have proven to be very tough to break down over the last couple of years.
I'm going to take Northern Ireland on the handicap here, I was not impressed by Scotland against the Republic of Ireland and I think they were extremely lucky to win that game. This should be an interesting tactical battle but I think it ends up in a draw, maybe a scoreless draw.
