Huge game for both Everton and Southampton on Saturday as Southampton look to close the gap to the top four an Everton look to move away from the relegation battle. Everton have been playing better of late with three wins in their last four and are unbeaten since December in games at Goodison Park. Everton have a top three that could rival some of the best in the league with Lukaku, Naismith and Mirallas all playing well and contributing goals. Lukaku in particular is obviously the focal point of most Everton attacks and the big belgian has three in his last four. Roberto Martinez will want his team to finish the season strong as they have struggled for long periods this year and the Spaniard will know that a strong finish to the season can help attract better players in the summer and give the current team a belief for next season.
Southampton are one of the teams that have benefitted from Everton's drop this season but it has been due to the hard work and solid play that Ronald Koeman has instilled in his team. Sneiderlein , Pelle and Mane are the key figures through the center for the Saints and they have been extremely effective this season. Pelle got a good goal against England in the recent Interntational break to stake his claim for a starting spot for the Azzuri. He has been having a terrific season but has struggled a little lately. Southampton with a win on Saturday will move up to fifth if Liverpool fail to beat Arsenal. Southampton will deserve a place in the Europa League given the season they have had but they will need to continue their strong form through the last eight games of the season.
Really good match up here, Everton have been solid at home and are tough to beat at Goodison Park. Southampton have been exceptional this season though and it would not surprise anyone if they went to Everton and won. Going to take both teams to score here as I see this one being an exciting game and one in which the away side might just nick it 2-1.
