The Allianz Arena on tuesday night will be the venue when Bayern Munich host Porto looking to turn around a 3-1 deficit from the first leg. Porto were sensational in the first leg, out played the German champions and had their tactics spot on. Manuel Neur was extremely lucky to stay on the pitch after conceding a first half penalty so arguable Munich could have been in an even bigger hole. Bayern have been decimated by injuries in recent weeks but to say that injuries were the reason for the first leg loss would be take away from the brilliance of the performance by Porto. Quaresma and Martinez were immense for the home side and will fancy their chances of repeating the performance on Tuesday night.
Bayern are still missing Ribery and Robben around whom so much of the Bayern attack is built. Guradiola will have to put his faith in Lewandowski, Muller and Goetze, not a bad trio to be trusting but players that dont bring the same pace or guile that Ribery and Robben possess. This is an exceptional Bayern Munich team though and at home they will fancy their chances of getting the 2-0 win they need to bring them through to yet another Champions League semi final. The key though may not be Bayern's attack but rather their defence. Bayern really need a clean sheet and with nine in their last twelve home games the Bayern side will be confident but they must hold a Porto team that have scored in every away game they have played this season in Europe.
While I appreciate why Bayern are 1/3 favourites being that they must win, they are at home and they have a sensational record there I think the bookmakers are making a big mistake in just writing Porto off here. I'm going to take Porto +2 on the handicap and I will spread a little on the draw moneyline as well as I think this is a really good, well organised and tough to beat Porto side who will not fold under the pressure in Germany.
