Action from the Championship on Wednesday night as Reading and Birmingham face over at the Madjeski Stadium. Reading come into this in poor form having failed to win in their last six games but did have a terrific performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup at the weekend, narrowly losing out in Extra Time. Reading have had a pretty poor season and are left with three nothing games as they are not going to be relegated and can not make the playoffs. This is a tough game for reading to get themselves up for but the team and management will want to finish the season strong and I am sure that the Reading fans will turn out in their droves after the terrific performance against Arsenal. Pogrebniak, Mackie and Cox have been Reading's most consistant threat going forward but none of them have had what could be described as a good season, all will be struggling to make it to ten goals for the season.
Birmingham are one of those teams stuck in the middle of the Championship table, safe from relegation but unable to make the playoffs and the last three games of the season are just a distraction from the upcoming summer holidays. Donaldson and Cotterill have had excellent years for the Brums and on a whole the side has recovered well after a terrible start to the season. Next year Birmingham could really challenge for the Championship title if they cna keep the young players coming through and add a little bit of experience to the side. Gary Rowett has done a relatively decent job since taking over in October and should do well given a full off season and transfer window to work with. This could be a side to watch next season with young Gray a player that a team could be built around.
Going to take both teams to score here, not a big play but one that is just about worth taking. These games at the end of the Championship are notoriously tough to call but I think we should see an open game and one that will have a few goals.
