A historic occasion on Saturday evening as Stephen Gerrard plays what will be his last ever Liverpool home game, Gerrard has been an ever present for Liverpool for over fifteen years and the Liverpool home fans will give him a day to remember this evening. The atmosphere in Anfield is always pretty special with Liverpool fans being among the most passionate on earth, tonight they will be losing one of their own and I fully expect tonight to be a sentimental farewell for the entire 90 minutes. It is just a massive shame that Liverpool couldnt have completed the league challenge they mounted last season and left Gerrard with a winners medal, instead one of the best English midfielders of his generation will leave Anfield with an impressive medal collection but one that lacks a league winners medal. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be going all out to get a win here against an impressive Crystal Palace side who have been excellent on their travels . Raheem Sterling, Couthino, Henderson and the rest of the Liverpool squad will be anxious to get a win for Gerrard on his last game in anfield.
Alan Pardew's Crystal Palace come to Liverpool knowing that they are safe and unlikely to move much higher up the league table so this game is pretty much a rubber duck game for them, in addition the party atmpshere at Liverpool will all be for Liverpool captain Stephen Gerrard who is heading into the LA sunset on Saturday with this his final Liverpool home game as already mentioned. Crystal Palace have a number of players who have been attracting attention from so called bigger clubs, Yannick Bolasie being chief among them and having lots of interest shown by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers. Bolasie is an enigma, a talented midfielder/forward who works hard and knows where the goal is. Wilfred Zaha has also started to look like the player that Manchester United paid £15million for three years ago and his pace and trickery on the wing will cause problems for Liverpool's defence.
Will Gerrard be celebrating in his last Liverpool home game?
Great game this one, I think there is no doubting the want for Liverpool fans and players to send Gerrard off with a win and I think they will probably achieve it tonight. It feels like a 2-1 win for Liverpool with Gerrard scoring the winner, that is the type of thing that happens for special players like Gerrard. For us I am going with Liverpool to win and both to score at 2/1, looks a big price and one we should cash. I also like the overs obviously but the is not as much value in the overs as in the chosen pick.
