The 2015 Copa America will be a star studded event and here at Sports Chat Place we want to give you all the information on the twelve teams taking part we will have a team profile each day and will of course cover every game of the tournament and provide tips and predictions for tournament bets, group bets and individual match bets. In our fifth installment we look at fourth favourites and one of the teams that really impressed in the World Cup last summer - Colombia
Manager: Jose Pekerman
Captain: Radamal Falcao (Monaco)
Star Man: James Rodriguez (Real Madrid)
Young player to watch: Santiago Arias (PSV)
Key Player: Carlos Bacca ( Sevilla)
Last summer James Rodriguez announced himself to world football and Colombia were one of the stories of the World Cup. In a quarter final marred by terrible refereeing and some rough tackles (Neymar broke his back in this game) Colombia were to exit after some controversy. Rodriguez was the subject of several rough tackles before Colombia hit back with their own justice when Neymar received a knee to the back but it was quite evident for most of the tournament that this Colombian team were ready to compete in the big competitions. This was all achieved without star man and captain Ramadal Falcao, one of the best finishers in the world. Falcao struggled this season at Manchester United as he was just recovering from an ACL injury but nearing the end of the season he started to move better and I think Falcao will shine at this tournament.
With Sevilla's star attacker Carlos Bacca and Porto's brilliant Jackson Martinez Colombia have a front three that would be the envy of all international sides in my opinion and with James Rodriguez of Real Madrid in behind this is a side full of attacking intent. Chelsea winger Quadrado may be looking to work out the frustrations of a disappointing few months at the blues when he gets his chance here to be the creator for the aformentioned attacking trio. Colombia though have experence at the back with Milan's Zapata and Napoli's Zuniga along with Arsenal goalkeeper Ospina. This is a very strong squad and one that will fancy it's chances of going deep in this competition.
I think Colombia will win their Group with Brazil but this will mean they face Argentina in the semi finals if my predictions all come to fruition so I have a feeling the Colombians will exit at that stage. One thing is for sure though Colombia will be one of the best teams to watch in this year's Copa America.
