Paraguay and Argentina meet Saturday night in the 2015 Copa America at the Estadio La Portada.

Paraguay enters this tournament as the 2011 Copa America runner ups and a point to prove under new manager Ramón Díaz. Díaz is still looking for his first victory with his new club. Paraguay will simply go as far as Roque Santa Cruz and Paulo da Silva can carry, as they’ve combined for well over 200 caps and are looking at this as their last real chance to accomplish something big. Santa Cruz is one of the few players on this squad who can takeover a game offensively and Silva has the tall task of anchoring a young defense. Paraguay is an experienced team with nine players at least 30 years old and should be using this tournament to get in better form to provide a better chance of clinching a spot in the World Cup.

2015 Copa America: Paraguay vs. Argentina Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/13/15

Argentina heads into this tournament with hopes to bring the country's first major international title since 1993. Coach Gerardo Martino and others have talked about how important it is to end such a drought. Of course, anything is possible with the greatest player in the world leading the way in Lionel Messi. You add Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and others to the mix, and there’s more than enough reasons why Argentina is the overall favorite to win this tournament. Argentina is loaded with playmakers and can rain goals at the drop of a hat, simply breaking the will of a defense. While this team is extremely talented and deep, there’s always going to be the pressure of coming up short once again. It’s important this team gets off to a quick start.

Previous matches between these two teams has usually produced some fireworks and with the talent on the field, especially for Argentina, you should expect nothing different. There’s no doubt Argentina should win this match, but I think the safer and more profitable bet would be to take the over.
