WIth Colombia beating Brazil on Wednesday Venezuela now have a chance to wrap up qualification for theknockout stages if they can beat Peru on Thursday evening. Venezuela caused the shock of the tournament thus far beating Colombia 1-0 in the opening round of fixtures with Rondon scoing a brilliant header to down the Colombians. Venezuela have a good team solid throughout with Rincon , Rondon and Vargas providing the quality up top. Defensively they were excellent against Colombia stopping their opponents from ever getting a rythm and closing down space in the midfield which nullified the threat of James Rodriguez. Venezuela though will have to have a different plan here for a Peru team who like to counter attack themselves.
Peru were desperately unlucky to lose to Brazil in teh first round succumbing to a late goal when they had defended expertly for the majority of the game. Peru have some quality attacking players and caused Brazil all sorts of problems down the flanks with Geurrero and Far Fan instrumental in everything they did well. A win here for Peru would leave all four teams on 3 points , a logisitical nightmare for the Copa America organisers but something that just might happen.
Hard to call this one but I like the draw here, I think both teams are defensively minded and this one may end up being a bit of a stalemate. Not a huge play but one worth taking in my opinion.
