Chelsea - Transfer News - Signings and Targets
A look at Chelsea's movements in the transfer market so far this summer:
Petr Cech looks likely to exit Stamford Bridge after 485 appearances for Chelsea. In his time at the bridge Cech has won everything and was among the best goalkeepers in the world. Chelsea have now given the green light for Cech to move and it is looking increasingly likely that he will be playing at the Emirates next season for rivals Arsenal. Arsenal have a need at goalkeeper and Cech would be a superb signing for the gunners.
The young french winger has made his move to Sevilla after 6 years with Chelsea most of which was spent out on loan at various clubs across Europe. Kakuta was just not good enough to break into the Chelsea squad and with Quadrado, Hazard, Oscar and Willian ahead of him in the current squad this is a good move for the player. Kakuta always showed promise and regular game time at Sevilla will just improve his game.
The Colombian captain has agreed personal terms with Chelsea and it is now just a matter of Monaco and Chelsea working out a payment plan. Falcao is a terrific footballer who had a disappointing season at Manchester United last year. With Jose Mourhino in need of a striker to back up/compliment the injury prone Diego Costa I think this is a terrific move. Falcao isnt quite back to the level he was at prior to his knee injury but with time I think this could be a superb move on Chelsea's behalf.
Chelsea have made enquiries about the availability of the Liverpool winger but are said to have baulked at the idea of having to pay £50million for a winger that has underwhelmed last season and who's goalscoring record is far from impressive. With an array of wing talent already at their disposal I think Chelsea may just stick with what they have and let Manchester City chase sterling. As if on que Quadrado put in a man of the match performance last night against Brazil in case Mourhino and Chelsea were wondering why they signed the Colombian in January.
A stretch per haps to think that Real Madrid will part with the young french defender but Jose Mourhino is said to be interested in bolstering his back line and a move to get Varane would be ambitious but possible. Varane obviously worked under Mourhino at Real Madrid and Jose is said to be keen on reuniting with the classy defender. Varane did not play as much as he would have liked last season and maybe a move to Chelsea and London would appeal. It would be great business if Chelsea could pull it off but I am putting this one on the unlikely list.
