Norway and England play Monday afternoon in the round of 16 in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Norway advanced to this round by beating Thailand and Ivory Coast, and forcing a draw against Germany. Norway has done a great job of controlling the ball on the offensive end and being physical on the defensive end. Offensively, Norway has 45 shots overall and 21 shots on target, making it one of the more dangerous offensive teams in the tournament. Ada Hegerberg and Isabell Herlovsen have combined for five goals, while Solveig Gulbrandsen has two assists and two shots on goal. Defensively, Norway has allowed 19 shots on goal and has committed 32 fouls. Ingrid Hjelmseth has been arguably the best goalie in the tournament, coming away with 16 saves and allowing just two goals. Norway has been one of the most balanced teams in the World Cup.

England gets to this point after beating Colombia and Mexico. England has shown it can play many different ways but rather focus on the defensive side of the ball first. England has allowed 13 shots on target out of 34 overall, and has committed 28 fouls in three matches. Karen Bardsley has come away with 10 saves and allowed three goals. Offensively, England has gotten off 39 shot attempts and found the back of the net four times in its last two matches. Karen Carney has two of those goals, Fran Kirby has scored once and Alex Greenwood has an assist and one shot attempt. England has picked up the pace offensively as of late and has shown it can be a force when it controls the ball and is aggressive.

This is going to be an interesting match between two teams that are starting to find their groove a bit and feel they can put some balls in the back of the net. Whichever team controls the ball more will probably come out with the victory.

I have almost zero feel on this match, as I think both of these squads are even. Because of that, I'm siding with the draw.
