The LA Galaxy and San Jose Earthquakes square off Saturday night at the Stanford Stadium.
The LA Galaxy look to build on three straight wins, as they’re climbing up the West standings. The LA Galaxy are an offensive team that’s produced 10 goals in their last two matches and has been shutout in five of their 19 matches. Gyasi Zardes and Alan Gordon have combined for eight goals, Baggio Husidic has four assists and Robbie Keane has 23 shot attempts. Defensively, the LA Galaxy have allowed three goals in their last four matches and have allowed one or less goal in 14 of their matches. Jaime Penedo has produced 49 saves and has allowed two goals in his last three starts. Bradford Jamieson IV and Todd Dunivant are questionable with injuries.

The San Jose Earthquakes need these three points after getting in a little funk, winning just one of their last four matches. The San Jose Earthquakes are a defensive team that’s allowed one or less goals in 11 of their 15 matches. David Bingham has come away with 50 saves and has allowed zero goals in his last two starts. Offensively, Chris Wondolowski leads San Jose with eight goals, Matias Perez Garcia has four assists and Shea Salinas has 17 shot attempts. The San Jose Earthquakes have been shutout just four times and scored at least one goal in four of their six home games. Ty Harden and Marvell Wynne are questionable with injuries.
The last two meetings between these teams have resulted in a draw, and LA has won two of the last five meetings overall. However, the Galaxy have won just once in their last 10 meetings in Northern California.
I like the over in this matchup, as San Jose is going to be pushing hard to get three points, while the Galaxy are flat out finding the back of the net in terrific fashion right now. I expect a few fireworks in this one.
