The US take on Haiti on Friday night looking to guarantee themselves a spot in the knockout stages. Jurgen Klinsmann side were a little lethargic in their opening game of the tournament when they struggled to a 2-1 win Honduras. Clint Dempsey found the net twice and the Seattle Sounders man was the best player on the pitch. Braz Guzan of Aston Villa was culpable for the goal and Yedlin of Tottenham was an impressive perfromer playing as an orthodox winger rather than a wing back. Yedlin's pace is exceptional and he will be a real threat going forward for the US. Jose Altidore struggled to impose himseld and Klinsmann may be better off going with Wondolowski up front. The United states are heavy favourites tonight and there is little value in taking the US straight up.
Haiti were very good in their opening game against Panama and while they did most of the defending they deserved to get something from the game and they got their just rewards when Nazon smashed in an equaliser with four minutes to go. With most of the Haiti players based in the US this is a game that will inspire the Haitians to perform to their best levels. Look for Alexander and Geurreir to be the key men for Haiti wiht Nazon maybe coming into the side after he scored as a substitiute last time out. Haiti will have a big challenge on their hands here but I think this is not going to be an easy game for the US.
While Haiti impressed me in the opening game against Panama they face a much bigger task tonight. The US have been in specatcular form as well and have won their last five games including wins over Germany and the Netherlands. With Dempsey up front the US have a legitimate striker who can finish and I think he will be the difference again tonight. I'm going to take the overs tonight in a game that the US really should score three or four in. Taking the US -2 on the handicap may also be a decent bet here but for me the overs looks the best bet.
