On Friday two of the biggest teams in European football go head to head at the Amsterdam Arena, Ajax hosting Wolfsburg in what should be an entertaining game of ball. Ajax come into this game with a young squad assembled by Frank De Boar with an intention to compete in Europe. Dutch keeper Cillessen at the back will be a key player for ajax as they look to build on a solid season last year. Young striker Milik is one of the best young strikers in Europe and the Polish international has been excellent for Ajax since breaking into the side two years ago. Schone and Milik are forming a good partnership and with the very talented Claasen in midfield this Ajax side will be looking to compete in Europe and test themselves here against a quality Wolfsburg team.
Wolfsburg are coming off a historic season where they played brilliant football in the Bundesliga and finished second. Impressively Wolfsburg have managed to thus far hang on to Belgian superstar Kevin De Bruyne who was terrific last season. With Andre Schurrle joining in January Wolfsburg got stronger and Schurrle and Dost formed a decent understanding near the end of the season. Dost had a career year himself feeding off the brilliance of De Bruyne and Schurrle over the course of the season. This is a quality team but as with all club friendlies it is hard to know how many of their stars will be on the field at the one time.
This one should be great to watch though Wolfsburg were probably the most entertaining team across Europe last season and I dont think that will change much in the up coming season. Look for both to play a good brand of attacking football here and because of that I am taking the overs. I think this one should have quite a few goals. As with all friendlies though I wouldnt be investing much but what these games do give us is a chance to see how teams are gelling before the domestic seasons start.
