PSV take on Monaco on friday in another of the glamour pre season friendlies. Monaco were terrific at times last season but struggled to get into gear in the league and really only got going after christmas putting together a strong finish in the league to finish third and qualify for the champions league. They have lost a couple of big players kondogbia being the most important perhaps but also the season long loan of Falcao to Chelsea is a loss. Last season they uncovered a couple of gems and Martial is a terrific prospect it will be interesting to see if one of Europe's elite tries to tempt him away from Monaco this season. Monaco's success though was built on a terrific defence conceding the least amount of goals in Ligue 1. With that solid defence and Mouthino and Silva in midfield this is a talented side and the addition of El Sharawaay from Milan could be an interesting one if he can rediscover the form of three seasons ago and not the terrible season he had last year.
PSV were terrific last season winning the Eredivise by seventeen points and the dutch champions will be looking to build on their success of last year. PSV beat Lyon in a friendly last week and Philip Cocu's side look to be one of the teams capable of causing a stir in the Champions league this season. PSV will be looking for more from front two De jong and Narsingh especially after losing top scorer Memphis Depay to Manchester United, De Jong though was excellent last season and he will be the key to PSV's attack again this year.
This one should be a good game, hard to call between two teams that have lots of potential and both have very solid defences. Not one that I have a big fancy on but I am taking the draw here as I think both teams are well matched and should cancel each other out.
