Semi Final action from the Gold Cup will see tournament hosts and one of the favourites the United States take on surprise package Jamaica who have been excellent throughout the tournament. The US team finally threw off the shackles in the quarter finals and scored six goals against a Cuba team that had been impressive in the two games prior although they had lost the opening game of the tournament by six to Mexico. The US are led by former Fulham/Tottenham and current Seattle Sounders striker Clint Dempsey who scored a hat trick in the quarter final, Dempsey is the focal point for the US attack and has the quality needed to finish chances and create ones for his team mates. Michael Bradley is the midfield general and manage Jurgen Klinsmann looks to have found the right balance at the right time. The US are very strong and heavy favourites for this game.
Jamaica though come into this game unbeaten in the tournament and have won three games in a row by a solitary goal. The Jamaicans success has been based around a very solid defence and even though they lost all three group games at the Copa America, the Jamaican side showed there that they were solid defensively. Gareth McCLeary has been terrific for Jamaica the Reading midfielder netting two goals so far and linking well with Giles Barnes throughtout the tournament, Barnes himself who showed his quality in the quarter final netting the winner has had a good season with Houston and will be the key attacking player for Jamaica here.
This is going to be an interesting game Jamaica look like a really solid defence and will fancy their chances of stiffling the US attack, the US are the better side here with a much bigger squad with players playing throughout Europe. But Jamaica have shown themselves to be tough as teak and will be really hard to beat here. I think this one could take Extra time to seperate them. I dont trust the US enough at 4/9 and I am going to takee the draw as the value bet here getting better than 3/1 on the draw here is just to big.
