The Internation Champions Cup resumes at the Melbourne Cricket Club with Real Madrid taking on Manchester City in what should be a terrific exhibition game. Manchester City beat Roma on penalties after a pulsating encounter that finished 2-2. Raheem Sterling scored his first Manchester City goal after just 2 minutes of his debut and had an impressive display linking well with David Silva and being a constat threat throughout the game. Manchester City did not use star man Sergio Ageuro but the brilliant Argentine is likely to be involved on Friday against a star studded Real Madrid. Manuel Pelligrini has a large squad of stars himself and getting the right balance through the pre season is tough.
Rafa Benitez has pressure mounting already after his Real Madrid side failed to score in his first game in charge against Roma. Cristiano Ronaldo started through the center and young Norwegian Odergaard got his first competitive action with the first team and didnt look out of place. Gareth Bale , Jese and Modric all got 45 minutes but looked a little off the pace. Real Madrid have a galaxy of stars and with Benzema, Rodriguez and Kroos coming in from the bench it's a tough job for Rafa to juggle the players playing time while keeping the team competitive. I think on Friday he will play with three up top and Benzema through the center allowing Ronaldo and Bale to play their roles on the wings of a front three. Real will look to get off the mark in this one but they face a very tough Manchester City team.
These pre season games are really just exhibitions, watching the Roma/ Manchester City game there was a feeling that it would go to penalties from the start and I wouldnt be surprised if we see another draw here but I am going to take both teams to score. So much attacking talent on display and the lack of a balanced back four always leads to more chances. This one should be worth getting up for depending on where you are in the World but I know I will be tuned in.
