The UEFA Super Cup played on the Eve of the season takes place between two spanish sides this season as last years Champions League winners Barcelona take on the Europa League winners Sevilla in Tbilisi. Sevilla having lost star striker Carlos Bacca went into the transfer market and did rather well in my opinion, clever purchases like that of Stephen N'zonzi from Stoke along with Kakuta from Chelsea and a shrewd free transfer of Konoplyanko from Dnipro has punctuated their summer activity and arguably Sevilla are stronger this season than they were last year. Unai Emery is a clever manager and will set up his team tactically to deny space to Barcelona's midfield and therefore cut off the supply to their lethal front three.
Barcelona have one of the best club sides ever assembled but with both Neymar and Messi arriving back to pre season late there is doubts about whether either will start the UEFA Super Cup game, Luis Suarez though has had a full pre season and he looks sharp as a tac. The Uruguayian striker was at the center of Barcelona's turn around last season as he turned on the performances from Christmas on that fuelled Barcelona's treble run. Midfield maestro Rakitic was also at the center of everything for Barcelona and his passing allows for such a wide range of movement from the front three that he might even be the biggest single piece outside of Messi , that makes this team tick.
This one should be an entertaining game, while Sevilla have their work cut out against such a strong Barcelona team but if we have seen anything of Sevilla the last two years we have seen that they always rise to the occassion and you can be guaranteed that Sevilla manager Unai Emery will have set out a gameplan to deal with Barcelona in this once off fixture. Sevilla though are deserved underdogs and it is hard to envisage a scenario where they can stop Barcelona's front three from finding the net. For this reason I'm going to take both teams to score, Barcelona have had a poor pre season and specifically defensively they have really struggled. I think Sevilla exploit some of those defensive weakness'. This one should be a really good game of passing football worth tuning in to.
