On Sunday we have one of the best games of the Premier League weekend as Arsenal travel across London to take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Arsenal have a terrific record against Crystal Palace and that is partly why the Gunners re such heavy favourites for this game but for me the oddsmakers are looking past the quality that Crystal Palace now possess. Arsenal were terrible last weekend at home against West Ham, they lacked invention and didnt really create any clear cut chances as West Ham frustrated them from start to finish. Giroud while a good player may not be good enough to lead Arsenal to a league title, Alexis Sanchez is the star man in this Arsenal team but he is not 100% fit after returning late from International duty, Arsenal missed him last weekend and Ozil, Cazorla and Oxlade Chamberlain failed to create anything against West Ham while at the back Arsenal shot themselves in the foot yet again with defenders losing the ball on the edge of their own box only to have Petr Cech beaten from distance. Cech was supposed to be one of the signings of the season but the former Chelsea man had a rather poor debut and will be looking to make amends immediately.
Crystal Palace come into this game off the back of an impressive win over Norwich , being my bet of the weekend last weekend I was more than happy with Alan Pardew's sides performance. Yohan Cabaye may be one of the signings of the season as the frenchman was terrific in his competitive debut and even added a goal in the last minute to cap off a great day for Palace. Looking at Crystal Palace on paper though they are strong throughout the team, Bolasie, bamford and Wickham were only substitutes last week which shows the strength of this side. This is a quality team and one that will cause problems for anyone on their day.
While I understand that everyone is expecting an Arsenal reaction to a poor perfromance and I would expect Arsene Wenger to make changes I just cant help but like the price on Crystal Palace. If Palace had any sort of record against Arsenal I would take them to get the outright win but I think the smart play is taking Palace +1 on the handicap. I like what I have seen from Crystal Palace's back office and their moves in the transfer market have been excellent , this is a team to watch this season and one that we may be on week in week out. Taking Palace as the home dog here.
