One of the ties of the round in the UEFA Champions League will see Monaco travel to Spain to take on Valencia at the Mestalla. Monaco will be slightly ahead of Valencia in terms of preparation having played four competitive games already this season. Monaco lost some quality attacking opetions this summer with both Falcao and Berbatov not plying their trade in France anymore. El Shaarawy has come in from Milan and alot of pressure is on the shoulders of the brilliant french youngster Martial who had a terrific season last year, with Mouthino and Bernardo Silva also expected to step up and fill the boots of the departed Kondogbia this is a bit of a transitional time for Monaco but they have a side that can cause any team troubles on their day. In addition Monaco have one of the best defences in Europe and they could well be tested on Wednesday as they face a Valencia side intent on getting to the group stages of the Champions League.
Valencia have struggled in the pre season with five losses in their last five although two of them came via penalty shoot outs there is definitely no momentum for Valencia coming into this one. Valencia will be looking for more from Negredo this season as the ex Manchester City striker was very poor last year in terms of his goal scoring, his all round play was pretty good but his finishing lacked his normal assuredness. Paco Alcacer and Feghouli along with Rodrigo will be key figures for Valencia a they look to negotiate this tricky round but rumours have it that Otamendi the center half is being left out of the squad so that he can make his transfer to England happen.
I think this is an interesting game and one that could go either way. For me though Monaco are too big a price to ignore, I love Monaco +1 as I see too many problems with Valencia's squad at the moment especially given the Otamendi debacle. Monaco are a solid side and they knwo where the goal is taking Monaco +1 should be a tap in for us.
