Having held Southampton to a 1-1 draw at St Mary's in the first led Danish side Midtjylland are on the verge of a massive upset and given their strong home record this could be the tie of the round in the Europa League qualifying. In addition to their excellent first leg performance the Danes have had a strong start to their domestic league and sit top of the table after six game. Rasmussen and Onuacho will be key figures as Midtjylland are likely to play most of the game on the counter attack against a very strong Southampton side who like to play possession football under Ronald Koeman. With Sisto and Dueland also key players with regards to creating chances and scorign from midfield this is a side that will cause problems for alot of teams and they are quite unlucky to have ended up with such a tough fixture having gone our of the Champions League group stages on away goals.
Southampton were far from impressive in the first leg and they have struggled of late to get anything going offensively , in three Premier League games this year they have failed to score and Ronald Koeman will know his side need more bit up front. Pelle, Long and Mane all provide quality going forward and with Tadic orchestrating in midfield this should be a side that has goals in it. Southampton do though boast one of the best defences in the league even with a high turnover of players they seem to have that solidity at the back again this season. I think the key for Southampton here will be if they can utilise the pace of Mane/Long up front and if Pelle can play that number 9 role effectively. With a solid midfield who will work very hard to hold onto the ball this is a team with bundles of potential.
I like Southampton here even though the odds are a little short. Getting the saints at evens though has to be taken, for as good as the Danish side were last week Southampton still had more than enough chances to win the game they just failed to finish anything up front. I think the Saints get it right tomorrow and I am taking them for the win in what should be one of the games of the night in the Europa League.
