With a number of top games across Europe this weekend this one is probably the pick of them and maybe the biggest game across Europe between two of the biggest rivals in English football as Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford. Neither team have set the league alight thus far but Manchester United have been slightly more impressive as they did have two relatively good performances in Europe in qualifying for the Champions League group stages. Both team have added alot of players this summer and these are really different teams to the ones that faced off for fourth last season. Van Gaal has built his team around captain Wayne Rooney adding youth and pace in Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay. Juan Mata, Schneiderlein, Schweinsteiger and Herrera are splitting timei n midfield and Fellaini is being used as an unorthodox striker. This is a team that is about to get the best goalkeeper in the world back in the starting line up as David De Gea just signed a new four year deal and is expected to start on Saturday, what a boost to a team that has only conceded two goals this season.
Liverpool sit on the same points as United and have had a similar run winning two games 1-0 drawing with Arsenal and then losing last time out to West Ham. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has brought in alot of players in the off season Firminho, Benteke and James Milner will need to make an immediate impact for the reds and games like this one are where these big money signings must show up. With Liverpool missing Sturridge through injury and Couthino through suspension this is a big ask for the new players and Brendan Rodgers is going to be judged on how he sets his team up tactically. There is no doubt that the Liverpool manager got the tactics spot on against a very good Arsenal team , can he repeat the performance here against Liverpool's biggest rivals?
Really tough game to call here, both teams have struggled to score goals though and the overs are priced accordingly at 6/5 . For me though this is one of those games that looks on paper like an under but I think is going to play out much different. Manchester United have shown an ability going forward to create chances and while they really only caught fire against Bruge I think they are due a performance and the players will be up for it against a Liverpool team that will probably come to Old Trafford and play for a draw. I'm taking the overs as I see this one being a open game with goals, neither defence is as good as the statistics show and both have been blessed by playing against teams that wasted chances they created. Take the overs here and cash a winner.
