On Wednesday Bayer Leverkusen will try to halt a three game losing streak when they face Belarussian Champions Bate. While this is a solid Bayer Leverkusen team that have added quality up front with Javier Hernandez joining from Manchester United on deadline day. Leverkusen have had a good start to the season until three weeks ago when things started falling apart a little after losing to Bayern Munich they have now lost three in a row. Bayer Leverkusen though with Hernandez , Kiebling and Calhanoglu will fancy their chances of scoring in every game and although this is a tough game they will know that winning their home games will be key to getting through a very tough group with Roma and Barcelona.
Bate come to the game looking to make it tough for their opponents. With an eight point lead domestically they can fully concentrate on the Champions League and they have proven over the last couple of campaigns to be a tough team to beat but that has more often than not been at home. In away games Bate have struggled to keep the scoreline down against the better sides and I think this again could be a problem for them when they visit Leverkusen.
The German side have the quality to score enough goals to cover the -1 handicap. I'm going to take Bayer Leverkusen -1 here, I think that the German side know they really must win the two games against Bate and then hope to win their home games against Roma and Barcelona in order to have a chance at qualifying.
