A cracking game for us from Serie A on Wednesday night will see Sampdoria take on Roma at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, Sampdoria have a good record at home in the league with two wins from two and the loss of their coach Mijhalovich to Milan doesnt seem to have dented their credentials to compete in the league this season. Zenga has come in as manager and the team's defensive strength that was there from his predecessor is still there. Eder has had a terrific start to the season for Sampdoria with five goals in four games and the Italian international will be keen to continue his strong form when one of the Serie A favourites Roma come to town. Sampdoria spent big money on Muriel and Fernando in the off season and both appear to have settled well for their new club. This is a big test for a young Sampdoria team as they take on Roma's galaxy of superstars.
Roma have really struggled defensively this season but are still unbeaten coming from behind twice at the weekend to draw with Sassuolo. The summer additions of Dzeko, Salah and Szecny from Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal has given Roma the strength in depth they did not have last season. This looks to me like a Roma team capable of winning Serie A and while Inter Milan, Milan and Juventus will all factor into the end game for the Scudetto I think Roma may just have an edge on the Milan clubs but if Juventus get it together it's hard to see anyone stopping the Champions. If there is a team to do it though I think Roma will be that team.
Both of these teams have shown an ability to score goals this season and both have been suspect defensively. I'm taking both teams to score and am really looking forward to watching this one. This is one of the best plays of the mid week fixtures in my opinion and I will be taking this one strong.
