A London Derby to kick off the Carling League Cup fixtures on Wedensday night with Tottenham Hotspur playing host to their great rivals Arsenal. Tottenham have strung together three wins in a row now and are looking more and more comfortable with Pochettino's side defending well and playing an expansive game using their width very well. The addition of Son up front has been an instant hit with three goals in his last two games and has taken some of the pressure off Harry Kane with regard to goalscoring duties, although Kane could really do with a goal for his confidence. The young striker has not found the net yet this season for his club and really like any goalscorer the longer the drought goes the more it affects confidence, something tells me though that a game against arch rivals Arsenal could be just the thing to get Mr Kane going.
Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side come into this game needing a win. Having lost back to back games including a London derby loss to Chelsea last weekend the Gunners are slipping a little. Both of those losses though were asterixed by having a man sent off in the first half. Arsenal have quality all over the pitch and those calling for Wenger to be sacked are short sighted. This is one of the best Arsenal teams put together since the "Invinceables" Alexis Sanchez has yet to find his form this season though I think like Harry Kane a derby game could be just the atmosphere to allow the Chilean forward to find his goal touch again. Cazorla, Ozil, Walcott and Ramsey are also struggling in recent games but I am not sure how much any of these will play. Normally Arsene Wenger plays a mix of reserve and youth players, given that it is against Tottenham though I think he will play a stronger than usual team.
One of the games of the rounds obviously with Arsenal taking on Tottenham, I am really looking forward to this one and I am going to take the overs in this one. Both of these teams have some tremendous talent and if we see two full strength teams I think we will see a corker, unfortunately though I think it will be a mix of reserve and first teamsers. Either way though I like the price on the overs. I'm taking the overs and looking forward to what should be a good game.
