A vital game for Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers who is now favourite to be the first manager in the Premier League axed, a little premature in my opinion as Liverpool started the season quite well and I think the only really poor result they have had is the 3-0 loss to West Ham. Christian Benteke might possibly miss this game through injury, a pity as I am sure he would have enjoyed playing against his former team. Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Couthino will probably start up front and that is a front three that should strike fear into the Aston Villa defence who have really struggled this season. Liverpool were better defensively the last two games and since losing to Manchester United and West Ham Rodgers has rung the changes Skertel, Sakho and Can looked a solid combination and I think that Rodgers will stay with this trio for this important game.
Aston Villa are actually unbeaten on their last four trips to Anfield and I am certain that Tim Sherwood will want his side to build on their home win over Birmingham in the cup. After playing a terrible game against West Brom last weekend, Aston Villa will be looking for improvement here. Villa have a solid team and with players like Ayew, Agbonlahor, Grealish, Sinclair and Gestede there is quality there that can win games. Aston Villa have struggled this season, with only five goals in six games the problems are obviously up top. Rudy Gested signed from Blackburn in the off season has had a good start to his Villa career and with Gestede through the center I think Villa will fancy their chances of causing problems for Liverpool with the pace of Sinclair and Agbonlahor.
Tough game to find value in here and I am going to go against conventional wisdom here. Both teams have struggled to score goals this season but I think this game is going to open up. Tim Sherwood will come to Anfield and try to get a result his team beat Liverpool in a cup semi final last season playing attacking football and I think they go out and do the same on Saturday. Liverpool also really need a win and a performance for their manager I think the Reds put in a big performance on Saturday and I expect goals, Sturridge, Counthino and Ings are going to cause all sorts of problems for Villa. Take Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 2/1.
