Italy need just two points from their remaining two games to clinch an automatic qualification spot and will look to get those two points when they travel to Baku to take on Azerbaijan on Saturday night. Antonio Conte though will be wary of the task at hand as Croatia came up short in their visit to Baku in the last round of fixtures. Azaerbaijan have proven to be a tough team to beat during this qualifying campaign and they are definitely moving in the right direction. Italy needed a late winner when the two teams met in the reverse fixture and Azerbaijan have been no one's whipping boys in the group only losing by more than a goal once, in a collapse in Croatia.
Italy have question marks over this squad as well with many questioning the continued presence of the brilliant Andre Pirlo, many in Italy feel it is time to replace the great man with a younger fast version but when a player has such amazing talent as Pirlo it's hard for a manager to replace him. Up front Italy will be going with the hot hand in Graziano Pelle , the Southampton forward has been on fire in the Premier League and he looks likely to cement his place up front with his country if he can carry his club form over. The rejuvenated El Sharawaay also gets back in the squad and many expected a call for the prodigal son Mario Balotelli but he has been left out of this squad but the Ac Milan striker will need to continue his resurgence to earn a place into the squad for Euro2016.
This one is tough to call, I'm taking the unders as there is no value in taking Italy straight up at the prices quoted. To be fair I think Azerbaijan are not going to roll over on Saturday and this could be a really tough game for Italy. It's hard to side against Italy though on the straight up markets, they should have too much quality in the end but I do think this one stays a low scoring affair and one we should side on the unders at relatively decent prices.
