When you think of the best teams of Europe playing in the best competition in Europe you think of games like this, Arsenal of London, England taking on Bayern Munich the Champions of Germany. Arsenal come into this game in horrible shape in the Champions League group as they somehow managed to lose against both Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb. When this Group was drawn we would have been certain of an Arsenal & Bayern Munich progression but Arsenal are now in real danger of missing out on qualification from the Group unless they can pick up points in the next two back to back games against Bayern Munich. Arsene Wenger's side though have come good in recent weeks and destroyed a good Manchester United team 3-0 a couple of weeks ago. When they are on there is no one who moves the ball better than Arsenal with Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla and Ramsey they play the ball around just as well as Bayern or Barcelona. Oxlade Chamerlain and Walcott have stepped up this season and Olivier Giroud although their best center forward he is struggling to get into the side such is the qualty of the Arsenal attack right now.
There is little I can say about Bayern Munich that hasnt already been written a hundred times this season, Pep Guardiola's side have won all nine games in the Bundesliga this season and where they have flirted with unbeaten seasons in each of Pep's season's in charge they are now flirting with the perfect season. The of course will not go the entire season winning every game but such is their strength in depth that they could put up a ridiculous win total. Bayern have two of the hottest strikers on the planet Lewandowski and Muller lining up in front of an unbelievable midfield with Vidal, Costa, Goetze, Lahm and Alonso with Thiago and Martinez also in there. To be fair this may be one of the best sides ever assembled in terms of personnel but and there is always a but they dont play enough big games against good teams. In the last two seasons Bayern have come up against good teams(Barcelona & Real Madrid) in the latter stages of the Champions League and have come up short. Has Guardiola sorted out the problems that Bayern have had against the better passing teams? We might get an insight into that question on Tuesday.
This is probably the best game of the week in the Champions League this week and one that honestly has me watering at the mouth. While I understand that Bayern really are a superb team I cant pass up Arsenal as home underdogs here. Arsenal are a really good side and they are going to hold onto the ball, this is a team with some serious talent. Alexis Sanchez, Ozil and Cazorla on their day can beat anyone and while Bayern has the talent throughout the squad this Arsenal team need to make a statement this season. Arsene Wenger knows this is an opportunity to make a statement against one of the best teams in Europe, the question is can Arsenal deliver? I'm going to have faith in Arsenal and Arsene Wenger here, we get Arsenal with a goal head start here at better than evens. I'll take those odds and I really feel like this could be a game to maybe think about spreading a little on Arsenal on the money line as well.
