The game of the weekend in the English Premier League will see Manchester City host Liverpool at the Ethiad Arena. Manchester City come into this game top of the league and will be looking to get three more points here against a Liverpool team that have always caused them some problems especially in recent years. Liverpool though have struggled at the Ethiad and havent won there since a 3-2 victory back in 2008. Jurgen Klopp suffered his first defeat as Liverpool manager last time out with a 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace. Klopp has Liverpool playing a high intensity style of football with a lot of pressure being put on their oppoenents when Liverpool do not have possession. It has most definitely brought about an improvement in results and Liverpool are up to tenth in the league table but will need to string together some wins to get themselves back in the race for the Champions League which ultimately has to be the goal. Daniel Sturridge returned to training during the week but this game will probably come too soon for the ace striker. Christian Benteke will lead the line for the reds and he will give Manchester City defenders plenty to think about as he is a quality attacker.
Manchester City may be missing Wilfred Bony as well as the long term absentees David Silva and Sergio Aguero as Bony twinged a hamstring and is doubtful for the game. Former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling will make his first start against his old club and he is sure to get a hostile reception from the traveling fans after basically forcing a summer move. Manchester City though have exceptional strenght in depth and with De Bruyne, Sterling and Toure they have game winners throughout their midfield. With Fernando and Fernandinho protecting the back four it's tough to see past Manchester City winning this one.
I think Manuel Pelligrini's side will have too much here for an injury plagued Liverpool team, Liverpool currently have ten first teamers on their injury list and while Milner and Iber may be back I doubt they will be 100%. Manchester City have a very strong bench and to be able to bring in the likes of Navas and Nasri shows the strength of the blues. I'm going to take Manchester City to get the win here in what should be an entertaining game.
