With the quarter final of the League Cup Middlesbrough host Everton in what should be a cracking game between two high flying teams. Middlesbrough are flying in the Championship looking for a return to the Premier League and Karanka has his team playing really good football and just two points off top. Middlesbrough are a real team in all sense of the word, from one to eleven there is no superstar on the squad and the goals have been evenly shared out among the team. Kike, Leadbitter, Nugent and Stuani have all been among the goals this season and Middlesbrough have been very strong at home winning all but two games at the riverside this year.
Everton come into this game in great form but off the back of a disappointing 3-3 draw at Bournemouth a game in which the Toffees held a 2-0 lead and then had a 3-2 lead in injury time only to be caught on the counter attack again. Everton have some exceptional footballers and Roberto Martinez will look to the inform Barkley and Lukaku to lead the way for the team. Everton have not won a major trophy in a long time and this is a real opportunity for the blue half of Liverpool to give themselves a chance of a trophy. While Middlesbrough is a tough place to go this is probably one of the easiest draws that Everton could have gotten.
We have two very well matched teams here on paper and while I do think Everton are the better team here I am not going all in on them getting a win here at the riverside. I think that there is a strong chance it takes extra time to seperate these two. The draw looks the value bet to me and I am taking it in what will be a tough game to call.
