Arsenal look for their first win in three games as they play host to a rejuvenated Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. Sam Allardyce's Black Cats have now won two straight and are out of the relegation zone for the first time this season. A win at Crystal Palace thanks to an alert Jermain Defoe was followed up by a decent perfromance against Stoke when they took advantage of Stoke having a man sent off early in the second half. Sunderland though are still the team that lost five of their last eight before those back to back wins. Allardyce though seems to have settled on a 3-5-2 formation which will change to a 4-5-1 for this away game I think and I see him being able to upset Arsenal as he did over his career at several clubs. One thing for certain is that Allardyce will have his team adapt a physical approach to Saturday's game.
Arsene Wenger to be fair has lost alot of players to injury in the last four weeks and the Gunners are missing eight first team regulars including the brilliant Alexis Sanchez who strained a hamstring last week. Arsenal's player of the season thus far though Mezut Ozil will look to continue his strong start to the season and Giroud, Cazorla and Campbell will be able assistants. Arsenal have won three and drawn two at home since losing on the opening day of the season. This is a strong squad but they have been decimated by injury.
Given the prices here there is just no value in taking Arsenal here and given Arsenal's injuries there is definite value in taking Sunderland on the handicap. I'm going to take Sunderland +2 here as I see this one being close. Arsenal might grind out a win but I dont think they will win by much and I fancy Sam Allardyce's side to keep it tight.
