Southampton look to bounce back from three defeats in a row when they host Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon. The Saints were well and truly embaressed midweek by a rampant Liverpool. Ronald Koeman's side got off to a flying start when taking the lead after forty second but had no answer to Liverpool's pressure game and were over run in the second half. One thing for sure is that Southampton will have been put through their paces on Thursday and Friday after that shocking performance. Koeman may change things up and I think Shane Long probably starts this game alongside Pelle, Tadic and Mane as Southampton look to get a much needy positive result.
Aston Villa have now lost four of their last five and eleven of their fourteen league games this season. The Villans have been terrible this season and new manager Remy Garde has his job cut out in saving this team as quite frankly they just dont look good enough to save themselves. Now seven points from safety they are in real danger of being cut off from the teams around them if they lose again this weekend. But the truth is even a point is not enough and Villa need to start picking up three points. With Agobonlahor carrying an injury Garde will turn to summer signing Jordan Ayew who has netted three goals in his last three games and looks to be the teams best hope of survival alonsgide fellow summer signing Rudy Gestede. My problem with that is I dont see these two scoring enough to save this side.
I cant take Southampton at 2/5 given their poor performances of late but I 'm going to take both teams to score. This is a tough one to see Aston Villa getting anything out of but if Southampton's defence are as generous on Saturday as they were on WEdnesday night then Aston Villa could well pick up their first away win of the season.
