As Friday night action returns from Ligue 1 I'm excited as these games have generally been good to us this season. Unfortunately we have a complete mismatch here with Bastia taking on the run away league leaders PSG. At 1/10 PSG are no value but if we look at the handicap markets PSG -2 are currently available at 5/6. PSG have won their last four home league games by three goals or more and this would appear to be where the value lies. PSG have two of the top five strikers in the league with Cavani and Ibrahimovic with ten and fifteen goals respectively this season. In addition PSG have Angel Di Maria, Lavezzi, Pastore, Matuidi and Lucas Moura that is a serious amount of attacking talent and is evidences by the twenty seven goals PSG have scored in nine home games this year, an average of three a game. Defensively PSG have strength in depth as well with David luiz and Thiago Silva marshalling a back four that have only conceded nine goals all season.
Bastia though have proven to be tough to beat on their travels at times. Bastia have only conceded fourteen goals in nine away games, which in general means they havent been blown away in any away games. Solid and tactically astiute they will arrive in the capital with a game plan to frustrate and play on the counter attack. Bastia have not won an away game all season though and to think that they are 30/1 to register their first win in the Parc Des Princes we can see how unlikely that outcome is. Bastia will look to the experienced Brandao along with Ayite and Danic to provide the attacking threat to PSG but I think this is likely to be a rearguard action for most of the game.
PSG struggled a little midweek to blow of the cobwebs in the Coupe De France where they only managed a 1-0 win against Wasquehal who ply their trade six divisions below PSG. Bastia will come to Paris and try to keep things tight , pack the midfield and not allow PSG to have the space to create. This has been a constant for PSG this season though and they are well used to having to break down pack defences. For me I dont really like the handicap here. Bastia have proved to be a sticky team at times and while they are probably not going to get anything from this game I dont see them being hammered. I'm going to take PSG to win 2-0 at 5/1. Min bet stakes here but with little value in the market I think this one is the only one that stands out as value.
