The early game in the Barclays Premier League comes from White Hart Lane where Tottenham will look to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Leicester. Tottenham face a tough task though against relegation threathened Sunderland who managed their second win in three games on Wednesday when they beat Swanea at the Liberty Stadium. Sam Allardyce's side are starting to put together some good performances and their star man former Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is on fire, scoring five in his last three games Defoe might just have what it takes to save Sunderland. Adam Johnson has also found some form of late and it is that type of offensive spark that will be needed to save the black cats. Of course defensively they have experience in Brown, O'Shea and with Sam Allardyce at the helm they have a manager who is used to dealing with the pressure's of relegation battles.
Tottenham suffered a disappointing loss midweek to Leicester in a game that Spurs dominated but just could not score. There is an abundance of pressure on Harry Kane to produce the goals for Tottenham and perhaps Daniel Levy should think about investing in a striker for Pochettino as Kane continues to look a little burnt out. Lamela, Erikson, Son and Dembele all are having excellent seasons and if Son can stay fit he can be the foil for Kane but having only scored twice in thirteen appearances I feel like a third option is needed at White Hart Lane. This is a team that is looking for Champions League football and they simply must rebound with a win here.
This is a tough game to call. Tottenham are the better team but they have been a little flat lately, Tottenham's defence is the best in the Premier League but their struggles in front of goal have been very real in recent weeks. Looking at the game as a whole I think Tottenham should win it, but at 2/5 there is no value in that. Tottenham just have the better team and should be able to take advantage of one of the worst defences in the league, while Kane hasnt lit it up of late I think he will net a couple here. Sunderland though have managed to find the net in all five of their last five away games therefore I am taking Tottenham to win and both teams to score.
