Action from the Bundesliga on Friday night gives us a relegation scrap as Eintracht Frankfurt try to move away from the drop zone and Hamburg look to stay away from being imbroiled in the dog fight at the bottom. Hamburg barely survived last season winning a playoff to keep themselves in the Bundesliga. With memories of that struggle fresh in their mind there has been some real urgency in Hamburg's play of late and they got themselves a good win against Borussia Mochengladbach last weekend. Lasogga, Drmic, Muller and Holtby have been key figures this season but Hamburg have struggled to score goals and their goal difference is terrible for a team almost in the top half of the table(-5) scoring goals has been a problem and Hamburg need to find themselves some goals from somewhere.
Eintracht Frankfurt have also struggled this season to score goals with just twenty seven this year but they have been even poorer on defence with thrity seven goals conceded. Frankfurt have lost three of their last five overall and five of their last seven at home. This is a team in free fall at the moment and they need a win to steady the ship. Eintracht will look to Meier the experienced striker/midfielder and top scorer to lead the way , he has scored seven in his last seven and has been keeping Frankfurt in games of late. The question will be though can Frankfurt's fragile defence stop a creative Hamburg midfield?
Neither of these teams possess the outright quality to make them favourites here in my opinion. Given Frankfurt are at home they are getting favouritism but Hamburg have won more away games that home games so I think this balances out here. This one looks like a game where both teams may settle for a point but I do think that the defences are poor enough that someone might nick it. Instead of taking the draw i'm going to go for both teams to score here.
