A couple of different stories playing out in this fixture as relegation threatened Sunderland travel to London to take on European chasing West Ham. Of course Sam Allardyce was unceremoniously dumped by West Ham in the off season only to take over from Sunderland after they parted ways with Dick Advocaat. Sunderland have been rooted to or near the bottom of the table for most of the season. The Black Cats are heavily reliant on Jermain Defoe for his goals and he is going to be the key man for Sunderland if they are to avoid relegation. Sunderland have lost ten of their last fifteen away from home but are unbeaten in three of their last five overall.
West Ham have won five of their last six at home and have lost just two of their last fifteen overall. The hammers have been having a terrific season and the decision of the owners to replace Allardyce with Bilic appears at least to have been the right decision. West ham have a real chance in the FA Cup and could finish in the European places if they continue their strong form till the end of the season. An injury to Enner Valencia will hurt West Ham as Valencia's energy and ability up front hasbeen a key part to their success. Payet though has been the player of the year thus far for the hammers and he will look to inspire WEst Ham again in the early morning kickoff.
I am going to take West Ham here, the hammers have been excellent of late and with Sunderland really missing creativity in the midfield I think West Ham will get the win. Andy Carroll, Payet and Moses shoul fancy their chances against a poor Sunderland defence but I am wary of Sam Allardyce here, the ex West Ham boss will definitely want to get on over on his former employers.
