An all Spanish encounter on Thursday night in the Europa League will see Valencia travel to Bilbao to take on Athletic Club. This is going to be a huge game for both clubs as realistically the only chance either have of progressing to the Champions League next season is to win this competition. Atheltic Club went to Valencia just two weeks ago and won 3-0, the club has a strong team and are sixth in the table. Aduritz has seventeen goals this season in the league one short of his career best eighteen which he managed last season, it appears that he is like a fine wine improving with age. The thirty five year old center forward has been a good player for the club and has had a couple of different spells here. With Muniain and Raul Garcia they provide a wealth of experience and hard work and the club is going in the right direction definitely. This is a game that Athletic Club will feel they should win against a Valencia team that has struggled for most of the season.
With Gary Neville at the helm things have improved slightly for Valencia five wins in their last seven games including a 6-0 and 4-0 in the Europa League has seen the club gain some confidence and I think that Valencia now believe that they can move up the Premiera Division table. This is a tough ask though against a very strong side. Neville I believe did not play his best side against Athletic in the league knowing this game was coming up and I believe Valencia will be more competitive here. Feghouli, Negredo, Piatta and Alcacer will be key men for Valencia going forward and I think the club has shown over the last seven games that they are better defensively now than they have been for most of the season.
I am not really liking this game for picking an outright winner. Two many complications with both sides Spanish and the form coming into the game being spotty especially for Valencia, there is an added dimension here too that I think Valencia . Instead I am going to take the overs in the corners market, I think the way both teams play there should be plenty of play on the wings and trying to get crosses in the box. The number is high in eleven but I like this to be comfortably covered.
