Without doubt the match up of the week in the UEFA Champions League will be the meeting of Juventus and Bayern Munich on WEdnesday night, the tie is finely balanced as Bayern Munich let a 2-0 lead slip in Italy and were hauled back by Juventus who finished the game strong and salvaged a 2-2 draw. This really was a game of two halves with Bayern dominating the first half only to completely cede the initiative to Juve in the second half and pay the price with two well taken goals by Juventus. Juventus will definitely take the game to Bayern knowing that they must score to have any chance of advancing. Look to Allegri's side to feed Dybala and Mandzukic and try to play on the shoulder of the Bayern defenders. If Juventus can get the ball wide and attack Bayern down the flanks they could find some joy as crosses have troubled Munich in recent matches. Juve's strong center will be tough to break down and the Italians will not be afraid of trying to contain Bayern and hit them on the counter attack. Dybala has had a knack of scoring important goals and none might be as important as his first in the 2-2 game that seen Juve spring to life. The Juventus rearguard of course will have to find some way of containing Robben, Muller and Lewandowski but if the Italians are known for anything in football it is for having a strong defensive mindset and being able to grind out 1-0 wins.
Bayern Munich were coasting in the first leg 2-0 up and seemingly impervious to Juventus attacks the German Champions looked set to steam roll their oppoents coming up to half time. During the half time interval though Bayern seemed to fall asleep and when they re emerged for the second half they were lacking the same intensity and work rate. The Bavarian's let Juventus back into the game and were lucky to leave with a 2-2 draw after completely collapsing in the second half. Muller, Robben , Alaba, Goetze, Vidal and Lewandowski are among the best attacking players in the world and Bayern will be hopping to get the best out of their star men at the Allianz Arena. Guardiola already knows he will be managing elsewhere next season with his move to Manchester City already announced. The question is can he leave Bayern with another Champions League title , if he doesnt even though he has won three domestic titles in a row his time in Bayern will be seen as something of a failure.
Tough game to call here. I do think there is some value in Juventus on the handicap but it is tough to bet against Bayern Munich when they are playing at home. Instead I am going to take the overs in Bayern corners, the current mark is set at six and I think the German Champions could well finish with double that amount. Bayern's last three home games they have averaged fourteen corners.
