One of many glamour frinedlies over the next ten days Spain and Italy go head to head on Thursday with nothing but pride on the line. Spain have won seven on the bounce and look to be approachng something close to their best in preparation for Euro2016. Spain still have the same problems that have plagued them over the last four years though and that is no recognized striker who is in good form. Pedro is in and out of the team and playing on the wing at Chelsea, Morata has only recently found his goal touch again with Juventus but still has only six goals on the season and Alcacer is playing with a Valencia team that are really struggling. Luckily for Spain though their midfield is exceptional with Fabregas, David Silva, Alcantra and Busquets all vying for a place , thats not to mention Manchester United's inform Mata and Real Madrid's Isco on the fringes of the starting spots. Spain have a quality control based side who will dominate possession but it will be interesting to see if they can break down this tough Italian defence.
Italy themselves are in a bit of a rebuilding phase and the squad reflects that. There is experience with Buffon of Juventus at the ripe old age of thirty eight will captain the Italians who are generally always involved at the business end of the European Championships. Antonio Conte will leave the Italian squad as manager following the Euro's and he sure would like to go out with a title. Conte will look to build on Italy's solid progress through the qualifying campaign. Southampton's Pelle has started to come into form at the right time as has Milan's El Sharawaay who is on loan at Roma and banging in the goals (five in eight appearances). Italy as always have a solid defence and although missing Chiellini a long term absentee through injury the Italians should still be very tough to break down here.
Another game that looks like it has a draw written all over it I am actually going to take the unders here. I dont see many goals in either side and with Spain's love of possession football and Italy's love of defence this could very well be decided by a solitary goal. The unders looks a really solid shout with a 0-0 or 1-0 either way the most likely outcome. As with all friendlies though just a min play for interest, as in these games literally anything could happen including a different 11 in each half for each team.
