On Saturday evening Tottenham will have an opportunity to close the gap between themselves and Leicester to just two points if they can go to Anfield and get a win against a Liverpool team who can be brilliant or brutal, quite often in the same game. This game will have a very English feel to it as both teams have several players involved in the recent England friendlies Kane, Alli, Walker, Rose, Dier, Lallana, Sturridge, Milner, Clyne and Henderson were all involved with Roy Hodgson's England and many of the aforementioned will be on the plane to France for the Euro's. It's rare to see such young talent on display in English teams but it is encouraging for the future of the national team. For the Premier League title though Tottenham have to win these tough away games and there is no doubt that this is a big hurdle facing Spurs. Pochettino's side did stumble recently when away to West Ham but that has been one of very few kinks in the Tottenham armour. With just two losses away from home all season Tottenham are among the best records in the league. Harry Kane has another twenty goals season under his belt and is the main man for Tottenham but this season Erikson, Alli, Lamela, Dier, Demebele have all stepped up and Tottenham have gone from perennial chokers to Premier League contenders. It has been a terrific season to be a Tottenham fan.
Liverpool are in the midst of a rebuilding phase. Jurgen Klopp has a fine talented side here , they are young and exciting as well. There is experience in the form of Skertel, Milner , Toure but the core of the team is built around youth with Couthino, Firminho, Sturridge, Clyne and Flanagan. This is a side that are going to do well under Klopp and it's only a matter of time before he adds some much needed depth to the squad. Liverpool are tough to figure out though. They face a big test here. Tottenham are a quality side and have the strength in midfield to expose the weakness in Liverpool's defence. The question is which Liverpool will show up on Saturday evening though. The team that was coasting to a win as they led 2-0 away to Southampton at halftime. Or the team that collapsed and lost 3-2 to Southampton in the second half.
At the moment I think this one should be a coin flip. Liverpool are favourites in the bookmakers at 6/4 and Tottenham are available at 9/5. I think personally there is too much value in Tottenham not to take them here. So I am going to go with Tottenham to get the win. 9/5 just looks too big considering that Tottenham are having such a good season and have won four of their last five away from home.
